Miles L. Loyd

Electronics Engineer (retired) - Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

Miles L. Loyd

Miles Loyd received his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 1959. Miles worked as an engineer for small companies for five years before joining the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 1964 where he retired in 1990. His work at LLNL focused primarily on experimental and computational physics in the weapons program. Since retiring, Miles has enjoyed windsurfing, travel, and photography.

Miles' interest in wind power grew from the energy crisis of the 1970s and his sons interests in model airplanes. The consideration of wind power using kites provided a vehicle for Miles to share his experimental, analytical, and computational experience with his sons.
