Rolf Luchsinger
Empa - Center for Synergetic Structures, Swiss Federal Laboratories
Trained as a physicist with a PhD in computational quantum physics Rolf Luchsinger started his career as a scientist at the University and later in an industrial research center. Attracted by the efficiency and simplicity of pneumatic structures, he moved to the Swiss company prospective concepts to explore Tensairity. Since 2006 he is heading the Center for Synergetic Structures at Empa, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, with a major focus on the R&D of Tensairity and pneumatic structures. Kite power ideally combines his interests in avionics, wind and lightweight structures with his ambition to get a new sustainable energy technology to fly.
